Aerodactyl prevents evolution cards from being played. Archeops prevents evolutions from your hand. Somehow you can Candy under Aerodactyl, but not under Archeops.

Unless I’m wrong, I don’t think they had stuff like Rare Candy then.
feyblade
They had pokemon breeder, which is functionally the same as the current rare candy. (as opposed to the broken pre-errata’d version )
Curtis
They had Pokemon Breeder, which you were allowed to use under Aerodactyl.

Timeline of Aerodactyl cards that block/impede gameplay effects:
1️⃣ – This guy! Aerodactyl GL has a baby version of this Pokémon Power, but in attack form.
2️⃣ – SK Aero has the option to turn off ALL Poke-Bodies in play, once per turn, from the active spot.
3️⃣ – SS Aero ex blocks your opponent from playing any tool cards. Doesn’t block them from using technical machines, tho, cuz in Gen 3 they’re classified separately.
4️⃣ – LM Aero reduces attack damage by 10 for each React Energy attached.
5️⃣ – MD Aero punishes ‘mons whenever they use Poke-POWERs. Can be stacked on the bench!
6️⃣ – Aero GX boosts opponent’s attack costs by {C} but only on BASICS.
7️⃣ – Aero VSTAR shut down abilities on your opponent’s Pokémon V.
