The thing is, the cheapest prerelease promo for the Mega Evolution era at the moment is Barbaracle at just under $10, whereas the cheapest prerelease promo of the Scarlet and Violet era is Aegislash at $1.14 market price on TCGPLAYER. With the baseline price for Mega Evolution era prerelease promos that high, it’s no surprise that the highest demand ones would exceed $20. And make no mistake, with how well recognized Alakazam is, how intermittent cards featuring the Pokemon were from 2003 to 2023 due to the Uri Geller lawsuit concerning Kadabra, and with how viable Alakazam is as a card, it was bound to be a cut above the likes of Doublade and Inteleon in price.

True. For some reason Promo cards that have the set stamp on them always seem to be highly sought out cards. I wonder if it’s because of the exclusivity? Or is there another reason I’m not seeing?
