There are currently 7 separate Exeggutor cards that are legal to play in the current standard format.

I wish Pokémon was willing to release as many Dragonite, Flygon, Rayquaza or Garchomp every three years (To name the four most popular Dragon types according to the 2024 Reddit survey, though of course I have my own favorites), if that’s the only way to boost the average of 3.54545454545 Dragon types per set we’ve been getting this generation.

Here’s a graph of how many unique Dragon types we’ve gotten in each Scarlet and Violet era set:
Scarlet and Violet: Dragon types? What Dragon types?
      Paldea Evolved: 2
      Obsidian Flames: 5
      151: 3
      Paradox Rift: 2
Paldean Fates: 1 new one, 2 reprints
      Temporal Forces: 5
      Twilight Masquerade: 6
      Shrouded Fable: 4
      Stellar Miracle: 1
      Surging Sparks: 10 Dragons

Compare that to the Sword and Shield era:
      Evolving Skies: 18
      Fusion Strike: 6
      Brilliant Stars: 9
      Astral Radiance: 2
      Pokémon GO: 2
      Lost Origins: 7
      Silver Tempest: 8
Crown Zenith: 1 original, 5 reprints

It’s not like the post-Dragon revival Sword and Shield era didn’t have its low points for Dragon types, but most main sets had at least 6. Am I advocating printing 2.33 Flygon a year for the next ten years? Not necessarily, but if Flygon is truly in the top 10 most popular Pokémon or even anywhere close, it would make millions of Pokémon fans happy.
