Why did Silver Tempest have such a focus on Alolan Vulpix? It’s already strange for a pre-evolution (other than Pikachu or Eevee) to get an ultra rare, and could they not have used Alolan Ninetails? I get that it’s part fairy type but they could’ve made it water… Idk it’s just a strange choice, and it’s not like Vulpix played a major role in any of the games either

A large chunk of Silver Tempest is sourced from Incandescent Arcana, a Japanese set that focused on “strong and beautiful Pokemon.” Vulpix VStar was one of its flagship cards, featuring front and center on its booster pack art. As for why not Alolan Ninetales, it comes down to popularity: an Alolan Vulpix is Lillie’s sole Pokemon in the anime.
