   40 damage for 2 Psychic Energy is a surprisingly high number to hit for in this era, for basics or for anything else. The tradeoff would come from the low HP and (to a lesser extent) it’s retreat cost of 2.
   While this card wasn’t permitted in competitive play (probably due to the unusual card back and cryptic text), Mew Wizards Black Star Promo #8 served a similar role. With a single PlusPower and a Psychic Energy, it could hit the magic number of 70 on a Mewtwo with three Psychic Energy. Thanks to cards like Scoop Up, you could drop this combo out of nowhere right after your opponent uses Energy Absorption. In fact, this is arguably more efficient than using Ancient Mew. But still, Ancient Mew is a beautiful and strong card, and would be fun to play with casually.

   I’ve never been able to figure out how that symbol means “30” and then those two symbols mean “40” …

     some sort of base 30 system.
     10 = funky rectangle
     20 = two funky rectangles
     30 = single triangle
     40 = single triangle and funky rectangle
     50 = single triangle and two funky rectangles
     60 = two triangles or something
