The jagged features in the background of this art are reminiscent of the jagged features in the background of the artwork of a few cards Harada did for Sandstorm, including Duskull (#61) and Steelix (#23). Jagged rocks also feature in the background of the (non-Harada) HP Anorith ẟ.
I’ve always wondered if this artwork was originally meant for one set or the other, but got replaced and the only reason we saw it at all was because TPCI commissioned Power Keepers as an “extra set”. (At the same time, Harada has always struck me as an incredibly hard worker and it would *not* surprise me if all her PK contributions were made on demand, even in some scenario where the request came to her on somewhat short notice.)
