This legendary Chinese Pokémon is considered magnificent. Many people are enchanted by its grand mane.

    Arcanine is Chinese? That’s new.

This is actually based off of the HG pokedex entry for Arcanine, which is based off of the Gold entry for Arcanine. I’m of the opinion that the entry is a slight mistranslation,a misguided attempt to produce a simpler wording of Yellow’s entry describing Arcanine as ‘a legendary Pokemon in China.” . There’s a subtle difference between the two: “legendary Chinese Pokemon” seems to imply that it is on par with the other legends (having universal acclaim as such) and is of Chinese origin, while “legendary Pokemon in China” implies that it is a Pokemon that has only achieved fame in one locality (China) and leaves no hints as to its origin. I definitely prefer Yellow’s entry

It’s always weird when they mention real-world things like places and animals in Pokemon once then never again. Lt. Surge is American… but Unova is based on America.. but is there an America too in Pokemon world? 0__o

I think this was the last time the TCG referred to a real-life country?? 🇨🇳
My favorite example is Secret Mission, from 2000, which literally has a WWII-era map of Germany and Poland in the background…
