Actually, they work almost identically to their counterparts. Obviously Articuno is going to be the closest, as its effect didn’t require a random number generator and is possible to use IRL as is. The major difference with Moltres is that it collects from your discard instead of your deck. However, it still forces you to take an exact number from 0-3 depending on whats in your discard. At least that captures the idea of it. Then we have Zapdos. The MD Zapdos is 100% better than its Legendary card equivalent. The GB1 card can only damage one Pokemon on either side of the board. The MD one hits either EVERYONE on the opposing side or nobody. I totally see where you’re coming from. Shame there’s no Dragonite in this set. Sure, he was always the least playable of the Legendary cards, but it’d still have been nice to complete the homage.

Actually, the GB Zapdos is better. It allows you to have slightly better odds at winning on the first turn, if the opponent has 3 or less Pokémon in play.

You just inspired me to fire the old Gameboy back up and build a quad Zapdos gimmick deck. Unfortunately, I’ll have to use GameShark codes to acquire two more copies, as my extra copy is in Japanese which apparently doesn’t communicate well with the English one.

Glad you pointed out this card, I’ve seen the Zapdos used plenty but never this @_@ It’s a really nice “emergency situation” sort of card that can end a sweep. The attack’s not bad either, especially if you have the Plasma set Mr.Mime out.
