        A cursory examination of how the French language evolved from Vulgar Latin – French is classified as a Romantic language – makes it seem almost as random and arbitrary as American English. Oh, and a French-language card on a site meant for English-language cards also comes across as “random” until you know the reason why (no English counterpart), and saying so ought not to be seen as disrespectful. ;)
