That would be perfect. The power of Bill was its spamability, but the card depicts a human character, so that makes it a Supporter by default. Of course, that wording leaves open the possibility to play a Bill, Play an N, then draw into a Bill you can’t play anymore.
It’s strange actually. Trainers were obviously originally intended as people who support the Pokemon i.e. Bill, Oak, Pokemon Breeder and so on, but with clear items as well Pluspower and Full Heal.
But then when supporters were introduced anything that involved a person became a supporter, but the old items stayed trainers.
If anything it should’ve been that the non people trainers became items and the people stayed as trainers.
I’m late to the party but wanted to say how I like the basic notion, but that effect seems far too strong if I’m reading it correctly.
Given the cardpool at the time I am making this comment, how about “You may play another Supporter named ‘Bill’ this turn.”? Ultimately, though, creating other cards with effects that reward you for settling for Bill would be the most realistic approach, like how Judge is getting a boost from Judge Whistle.
That should be towards stage two pokemon as well. They should be given higher hp, crazy abilities, and atk with devastating effect. Not going to happen.
And theres a lt surge card that allows to play two supporter in one turn. If anything, they may make a bill card with either of these effect: a. Draw two cards, then draw an additional card for every bill you have on your discard. Or b. Draw two cards, then search your deck for a support name bill and add it to your hand. Shuffle deck afterward.
You’re almost describing the latest Whitney. Draw 1 card plus 2 extra cards for each Whitney in your discard. One of the many cards in Expanded made borderline broken because of Battle Compressor.
When it comes to balancing out fully Evolved Basic versus Stage 1 versus Stage 2 Pokémon, they HAVE tried what you said; Stage 2’s either still fall short or suddenly become the problem themselves!
I think the answer lies in pacing and distribution. You can balance out the final Stages of Evolution by making them roughly equal but adjusting the pace of the game and the inputs of the Evolution line. Design damage-focused attackers so they can’t start swinging until each player has had a turn or two to Evolve. Make sure those attackers don’t double as good opening Pokémon. Then make evolving Basics into good openers, evolving Stage 1 Pokémon into combo pieces worthy of the space. So you have an automatic combo for the Stage 2 deck, but build-it-yourself for the non-evolving Basic.
Become problem themselves, i think dark vileplume was one. I see your point, i think they should let players evolve all the way unrestricted if you have them on your hand. I never played pokemon tcg but i don‘t like the idea of only attach energy card and evolving just once per turn. Yes there are cards that bypass that rule, but still. I am saying this because i like stage two; i never liked legendary pokemon (especially mewtwo, i truly despise him).
Some concepts that I like are:
– LOT Kahili: if you flip heads, you get Kahili back into your hand.
– As of the Sword & Shield expansion, you can’t play a Supporter card on the first turn if you go first. VIV Beauty doesn’t care about that.
– UPR Mars can be good for some control decks, I guess…? Because you get to discard a random card from your opponent’s hand.
– LA Buck’s Training and SUM Professor Kukui, with Professor Kukui being a direct buff of Buck’s Training. Both increase damage done by your Pokémon.
– ASR Gardenia’s Vigor is absolutely loved by Grass-type decks due to the Energy acceleration.
– PAR Roark, which also acts as a downgraded Energy Retrieval.
– LOT Whitney – I like this concept. It’s best executed in Expanded due to the presence of VS Seeker. Though you do need to get three Whitney into the discard pile, which Battle Compressor does a good job of. You do need to be aware of any Whitney that are in your Prize cards.
Although old Trainers are considered Items under modern-day rules, this card was reprinted as a Supporter, effectively removing the old version of it from the game.

You know what I would like to see? A compromise between the two versions of Bill.
Bill
Supporter
Draw 2 cards. You may play an additional Supporter during this turn.
Or some variation of the above

I like it. It sounds a lot like Explore from MTG
