Alongside White Kyurem BW63, this card is essentially unique to the English edition of the TCG – it’s functionally identical to BCR Black Kyurem, which has a direct Japanese counterpart, there is no Japanese print of the card with this artwork by Shin Nagasawa.

It’s also approximately the same situation for BW62 (Black Kyurem EX) and BW63 (White Kyurem EX). BW58, BW59, BW62, and BW63 are all “English-exclusive alt. art prints”[1]. BW61 features a Keldeo EX, and happens to be in the same boat – they’re unique to the English game only in artwork, but not in function.

On the other hand, BW77 (Pikachu), doesn’t seem to have a JP counterpart whatsoever. And perhaps that’s why the card never got released? We know that by Gen 7 that cards like Raikou-GX and Tornadus-GX are being released, and are exclusive to the English edition in both artwork *and* function.. but is this period of time in the TCG being characterized very well? Pokébeach recently put out an article about how SWSH302 Klara is exclusive to the English game, and stated that “Lately we’ve been seeing a trend where international markets are receiving exclusive cards,”[2] but this has been going on for at least a decade. I mean, look at Call of Legends.

All this kind of lines up with around when I first lost interest in the TCG (c. 2010ish?-2015) so I don’t really know where I’d go to look to see if this has already been outlined by someone. I’m just hoping to avoid a duplication of efforts on something someone might’ve already documented.. but I’m inclined to think this is a blind-spot for the community?
