I was interested by what “Pidgeotto the master one’s” said about Hitmonchan, so I took a look at other cards with the same energy cost. Onix’s Rock Throw only does 30 damage. It should do at least 40 damage since it costs the same amount and types of energy as Hitmonchan’s Special Punch, Dugtrio’s Slash, and Graveler’s Rock Throw. And on the other hand, Rocket’s Hitmonchan does 50 damage for the same energy. Brock’s Onix got a bad deal!

A nice finding! I think by the Gym sets they started to be more flexible with the formula, increasing (or in this case decreasing) the damage as compensation for other factors (in this case, 100 HP and a paralysis attack with a single energy).
