Arena Trap doesn’t seem to have shown up in the TCG at all, which is good because this on its own tripped me up independent of pulling another attack into it.
Sand Pit is the first appearance of the attack [すなじごく 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐣𝐢𝐠𝐨𝐤𝐮] in the TCG, predating the appearance of the attack by the same name in the video game by quite a few years. The attack will start getting translated as “Sand Tomb” starting in the Diamond & Pearl block of the TCG, but it’s interesting to find out that both “Sand Pit” and “Sand Tomb” are dancing around what appears to be the most accurate translation of the attack’s name: Sand Hell.
(..or, if you’re an idiot like I am and think it should be read ‘Sunaji goku’ instead of ‘Suna jigoku’, you’ll spend some time confused as to why the name of the attack seems like it should to translate to “Very Sand”. Yes, Sandshrew, thank you. VERY sand.)
