   The artist for this set only worked on the TCG until Legend’s Awakened.

   Not a bad draw ability–guaranteed Draw 1, with an optional/situational Draw 2 effect.

     Is it actually optional? The way its worded implies you have to discard a card after drawing 1, no matter what. I do agree, not bad though. Essentially, Energy Draw with -1 draw but a lot more flexible.

       You can choose whether or not to discard an ENERGY card for the Draw 2 effect — that’s what I meant by optional

     There were better draw Abilities during its lifetime, like Delcatty PK, Claydol GE and Uxie LA. Plus there was a fair amount of Poké-Power hate during its life span in the form of Cessation Crystal, Gardevoir SW (Who could also be called a better draw engine), and Power Spray. Compound these issues with alternative consistency Pokémon like Sableye SF and Spiritomb AR, and there was never much of a reason to play Bronzong as far as I’m aware.

   The attack for the Glalie in this set was localized as “Intimidating Pebble” from the original [いかくのつぶて], apparently because it has the same いかくas the original name of the ability Intimidate in the video game series – possibly an overcorrection of sorts, as the English attack name doesn’t really make sense.

   This Bronzong’s attack is originally [あやしいこくいん], having the same あやしい as in the original names of attacks like Confuse Ray [あやしいひかり] and Ominous Wind [あやしいかぜ]. あやしい’s unique appearances in the card game were not being handled consistently – in no particular order, a quick search finds EM Luvdisc’s [あやしいうろこ] became Strange Scale, DS Illumise’s [あやしいはおと] became Strange Rasping, and UF Stantler’s [あやしいなきごえ] became Screechy Voice. And obviously, Bronzong’s “Shady” is a brand new rendering for あやしい (effectively zero relation to Banette ex’s Shady Move, which was originally [シャドームーブ] – quite literally Shadow, not Shady). Since all these あやしい moves and Bronzong’s can cause confusion, they pretty readily read as themed variants of the VG series’ Confuse Ray, but without a video game name to anchor onto, the card game localization team seems to have approached each あやしい as if it was its own thing, suggesting they never looked to maintain an internal logic within their own translations.
