to be fair, they do have a seperate set of problems. Beartic has to be able to retreat often and needs about 3 energy on him at all times, which is harder than it sounds. Cacturne is faster with a lower energy cost, but the deck is slowed down a lot by relying on Fisherman to keep the darkness energy coming.
Combining Trainer lock with Paralysis or attack lock is a solid strategy, its just too slow to use those guys.
