Ask your opponent if he or she accepts your challenge. If your opponent declines (or if both Benches are full), draw 2 cards. If your opponent accepts, each of you searches your decks for any number of Basic Pokémon cards and puts them face down onto your Benches. (A player can’t do this if his or her Bench is full.) When you both have finished, shuffle your decks and turn those cards face up.

P.S. The site seems a bit slower after the ui change, or maybe it’s just me.

Oops, thanks! I’ve got that text corrected and the italicized part italicized now.
The site should be faster than before, though it’s possible that it could be slower for you for some reason. I have been benchmarking performance, and page generation times are usually around 0.1s. I’m not sure what they were at previously, but I made a lot of changes to get down to that time. The server limits how fast you can access the pages though (when you load a page, it sends a request to the server, and sometimes the server is slow to respond).

To follow up: I’m noticing the page-load issues now, too, and at least one other user is as well. I’ll be looking into this today and attempt to get it fixed.

I think I’ve gotten the slowness corrected. Let me know if anyone notices the site loading noticeably faster than before. It’s likely there are still unforeseen issues, but this should be an improvement for most users. Still to do: Optimize the image files (and switch over to rounded corners for all of the PTCGO images).

Are you referring to the images of the entire set being slowly loaded?
Adam Capriola
No, there were server issues that cropped up this past week. I had been trying Cloudflare for DNS, and it seemed to make things slightly faster, but it ended up conflicting with my web host, so I switched off of it. The site should be relatively stable moving forward, now.
