If only Mega Ascension allowed you to just Mega Evolve straight away. Bringing it into your hand is not only unreliable due to the potential to lose it via N · Noble Victories (NVI) #92 or Red Card · Generations (GEN) #71, but you still have to waste a turn Mega Evolving. Attacking to Mega Evolve would still end your turn (as you’ve fulfilled two conditions that would end your turn anyways in the form of attacking and Mega Evolving) so it would be the same as doing it normally, only from the deck at the requirement of a fire and a colorless on your active.

I am new to Pokemon… what does the first attack mean? Search for M Charizard in you deck… the card is the active Pokemon so how could it be in the deck… no clue. Can anyone help me understand

M Charizard EX, or “Mega Charizard EX,” is a completely different pokemon. You search your deck for that card and put it into your hand, thus making the Mega Evolution all but gauranteed.
Your confusion is understandable: the wording on this attack is poor. Historically in order to avoid any ambiguity between potentially self referential attacks and attacks that refer to a card in your deck, effects like this would be worded as:
“Search your deck for a Pokemon named M Charizard EX and put it in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward. “

I wish I didn’t have the Promo version, but it looked so cool I had to get it.

Cameron, the photographer: now give me a nice flamethrower, but keep the eye contact.
