Clefairy Doll · 10 HP
Trainer › (Item)

Play Clefairy Doll as if it were a Basic Pokémon. While in play, Clefairy Doll counts as a Pokémon (instead of a Trainer card). Clefairy Doll has no attacks, can’t retreat, and can’t be Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, or Poisoned. If Clefairy Doll is Knocked Out, it doesn’t count as a Knocked Out Pokémon. At any time during your turn before your attack, you may discard Clefairy Doll.

This card had an interesting mechanic. It would be cool if they brought something like this back.

Tyrogue says Hi. But it would be cool.

There was a certain Vending Hypno that had a pokemon power that let Clefairy Dolls use it’s attack as long hypno had the energy (though I think it was released on Japan only). I have such a deck on the gameboy game, it’s pretty fun.

This would be a great safe way to play Cinccino or Benchtini or Jumpluff without worrying about Kyurem or Landorus spread. When your opponent KO’d it, no prize was taken. And if your opponent Catchers it to stall, since it can’t retreat, you can just drop it in the discard pile. And it can be Junk Armed for, but I don’t think Revive would work. (I forget how Item Finder and old-Revive worked with this, but I think it’s only a Pokemon when in play.)

Old-revive would kill it as soon as it brought it back had it worked with it. Which it didn’t.

Also, there was an AI in the Game Boy game that ran Wigglytuff with this. Sometimes she’d be difficult to beat if your playing a joke deck, so it shows how effective it could be as a bench filler.

She also uses Mysterious Fossil. But why would one want to use Clefairy Doll or Mysterious Fossil over something like Hitmonchan, Electabuzz, Scyther, or other Haymaker Pokemon? It seems to me that a Haymaker Do the Wave deck is far more effective than a Do the Wave deck that uses Clefairy Doll and Mysterious Fossil.

There’s a typo in the rules here, it says “… Clefairy Doll counts a a Pokémon …”
