Warp Energy, Boost Energy, and Cyclone Energy weren’t originally a trio (Warp and Boost Energy originated from e-Card 3, and Cyclone Energy from e-Card 5), but de facto became as such when they were reprinted together for PCG4/EX Unseen Forces¹. Stormfront brought back only two of the the three – Warp Energy and Cyclone Energy, leaving Boost Energy behind.
Fast forwarding a few years, Warp Energy later received a SM-era reprint², and Boost Energy was retrained as Triple Acceleration Energy around the same time. So it’s now Cyclone Energy that’s been left behind, with this Stormfront card still being its most recent print.
With SV’s Special Energy cards having a running theme of revisiting Gen 3 energy cards, and Cyclone Energy both a part of that era and the eras on either side of it, I wonder if it has a chance of showing up again? I suspect not, as the ability to Boss’s Orders + Cyclone Energy in the same turn might lend itself to some degenerate combo down the line, if it couldn’t already.
¹ The original trio of e-Card Special Energy would actually be Warp Energy, Boost Energy, and *Crystal* Energy, as seen by all 3 getting special JP-only Promo prints during the e-Card era, but their PCG-era reprint feels like it solidified the trio as outlined.
² Jet Energy bears mentioning here, too, as a “Warp Energy, but better in more cases” retrain.
