I think there was probably a mistranslation there. I think it’s supposed to read “Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for this attack. (Any other effects still happen.)” Other effects would be stuff like Pokemon-Powers or attacks that affect damage.

Judging from the lack of space after the period, I kind of assumed is was just a typo. Whoever was writing card text may not have been paying attention to what they were doing.

Apparently-and I haven’t personally tested this, I was just told this by a friend- weakness and resistance ARE applied to this attack in the Japanese-only sequel to the gameboy game. It’s likely not a typo at all.

Weakness and Resistance are applied to the Bench? I could see it being applied to the Active possibly, but it is very rare to see Bench enforced Weakness/Resistance. This is one of the only cards I know of that does so:

I saw this played on Saturday, deals with quite a few things like benched Fossil Muk and does a respectable 70-80 to Gardevoir and Gallade for just 1 Energy!

Yep, it’s definitely correct! Drifblim FB also has Shadow Ball (though it costs a couple more Energy and can only hit the Bench).

Feyblade’s comment w/r/t how the Power functions in TCG 2 felt worth investigating. I can confirm Weakness and Resistance is NOT applied for this Power. For completeness, I trialled testing this for both the opponent’s Active Pokémon and their Benched Pokémon. It is absolutely a mistranslation.
