One of the all-time best card artworks in the history of the TCG imo
Blob Takeshi
The artist only stayed onto Diamond and Pearl set though. :/
Guy
Nakaoka’s drawings are really cool, but I can’t say that about his 3D models. Especially that Articuno ex.

This card got two spiritual successors: SF #30/100 (which copies “Grind” and “Spinning Tail”) and TEU #85/181 (which copies “Spinning Tail” and “Bite Off”)!!
Charmaster
This card is an absolute beast: it has 80% the HP of stage 2 ex’s from its time period and 20% more than most basic ex’s (Which would translate to about 260 HP in the current era), its Spinning Tail could completely wipe out many decks in five or six uses, it’s Bite Off attack could shred through basic and stage 1 ex’s with ease, and its Grind attack could potentially exceed what Bite Off could deal to single prizers if you had a silly amount of Energy on this thing.
Fortunately for Dark Tyranitar, Electrode ex could allow you to accelerate not only Special Darkness Energy (Which would increase your damage output), but Scramble Energy (Which would also be activated by Extra Energy Bomb forcing your opponent to take prize cards) and the Holon Energy FF/Fire Energy combo (Which could eliminate Dark Tyranitar’s Fire weakness if you didn’t use Weakness Orb instead).
Ross Cawthorn piloted this deck to a second-place finish at Worlds 2005 before there were ways to eliminate its weakness, and by 2006 Worlds it had become a tier-0 powerhouse (It’s still arguably the best deck in format in Ruby and Sapphire through Power Keepers, but Sceptile ex from Crystal Guardians keeps Electrode ex in check in that format, so it’s easier to counter than in 2006).
Imagine if Pokémon increased all their single prize Pokémon’s HP by 50% today and printed a 260 HP stage 2 that could do 280 damage to Rule Box Pokémon or 50 damage to your opponent’s entire board? That’s the sort of monster we’re looking at.
