Does anybody know what the glowing door in the background of this card is supposed to be? Is it a reference to something and I’m just missing it? Stellar artwork, regardless

Wild guess, but it reminds me of a glitch where if you confuse the game by repeatedly walking back and forth over a chunk boundary, you can walk into the void and, if you are careful, travel to Newmoon Island on foot. I wonder if this is what the sky looks like just before the player steps out of the ether to confront a mythical Pokémon who thought it had passed through its hour of peril.
Theoretically I suppose this could be an anime reference, a reference to other Pokémon media or lore, or perhaps even a reference to Darkrai’s real-world source material, such as eastern folklore. I’m personally not invested enough to search for the answer, but perhaps somebody else is.

I’m pretty sure Darkrai is on a beach and that could be a buoy in the distance to mark how far the deep waters is. Other than that, ye this is sick
