Has it become a Normal type? Or a Dragon type?

It’s from the Dragon Frontiers, so my bet is dragon! Same with Ampharos

I don’t want to come across contradicting the above posts or suggest they’re incorrect. I think the Japanese name of the set probably explains the Delta Species type assignments for Nidoking δ and Nidoqueen δ, and it’s not like the English set name “Dragon Frontiers” is entirely invented – there are a number of dragon Pokémon in this set. Maybe Dewgong, with its serpentine body and majestic horn, has turned into a dragon.

I’ve thought about all the Delta Species Pokémon quite a bit, and I’ve possibly though about Dewgong δ more than any of them – I have probably now thought about Dewgong δ anyone has ever thought about Dewgong δ. You know, Dewgong sometimes feels so adorably unremarkable that making it a Normal Pokémon seems entirely appropriate. On the other hand, doesn’t Dewgong’s horn remind us of the unicorn? To fetch higher prices, merchants would sometimes sell sawed-off narwhal horns as “genuine” horn of the mythical unicorns. If Dewgong a mythical Pokémon, does that lead us to a Dragon Pokémon, somehow? “Is this anything?” No, it’s probably not anything – this thought process is ridiculous!!

Anyways, I was stumped on the mystery of the Colorless Delta Dewgong and its years of pilgrimage to the furthest ends of the world, so far and away from the Holon region. I decided to ask other Pokémon card fans their thoughts on this. The general consensus was something along the lines of either “it just feels right to make Dewgong a normal type, isn’t it?” although at least a few people said things like “Squirchampion, you’re a maniac, stop overthinking it, stop making five thousand comments on pkmncards, and there’s no deeper rationale to the type choices!!”

Well, you know, I thought about Dewgong δ too much to accept that as an answer.

Given that there is already a number of Pokémon that are very obviously assigned their Delta Species type based solely on the color of their bodies, it does not seem unfair to assume the same must be true for our beloved Dewgong.

Well, that’s a little unsatisfactory because it wouldn’t tell us which specific video game type it is, but this is something Latios ex δ even plays with, because it’s either Ice or Water, and in fact, might actually be hinting it’s both? They were obviously having fun with the idea with Latios, and I wonder Dewgong isn’t the same – it could be any one of Normal, Dragon, or Flying, or maybe even a combination of two of the three, or maybe it’s simply our beloved Colorless Delta Dewgong?
