This was also the last time (as of 2022) that we’d ever see Dewgong as a holo rare card.

This is also notable for being the last set Toshinao Aoki worked on for the TCG. Excluding reprints/reuses of his work later on down the line, this Dewgong is the last of only a few of his cards that got the holofoil treatment.

You’d think waiting 18 years and 5 months would been a fair amount of time to assume someone who hasn’t made any art for the TCG probably isn’t coming back and make that comment, but after 18 years and 6 months, Toshinao Aoki returned to the Pokémon TCG to illustrate the alt art for Unown V in S12 Paradigm Trigger*.

Let’s try again on this one, I guess? I have been corrected on this point of trivia as I overlooked S11a Incandescent Arcana Exeggutor, also illustrated by Aoki, which served as his return to the TCG. [https://archive.ph/0urON ] It doesn’t seem like that Exeggutor will release in Silver Tempest, so Unown V will serve as Aoki’s return to the TCG only for the English edition. (This is probably a good example on why writing about cards before they get an English print risks getting stuff jumbled up…)
