I noticed this Dialga is actually using its Platinum dex entry rather than its DP entry, and, pursuant to a comment I made on this set’s Dialga #5, wondered if PUSA/TPCi had taken some initiative here. It turns out not quite, as, in contrast to what I thought I’d figured out: that Japanese non-DPBP# cards don’t have dex entries, the JP print of this card does have a dex entry on it, despite the lack of a DPBP# on it.
Rather than coming from the main set, DPt1, this card originated from the 2008 Entry Pack DPt, and it looks like most, if not all the Pokémon cards in its decks have dex entries on them, despite the lack of DPBP#s on the cards. So there’s a bit more complexity to the ruleset for whether dex entries are included on JP cards, and it explains why some EN cards in this set use Platinum dex entries where I wouldn’t have expected them.
Something to keep digging for is to see whether the EN team ever updated a Platinum-block card to using its Platinum dex entry of their own initiative.
