Not popular with girls because of its attitude. Can often be heard muttering to itself in a low voice.

Best Drowzee period. Bonus points in Unlimited for evolving him into Hypno HS.

Possibly; I like evaluating cards in context, and this one released back when it could cost you the game via getting donked.

Why even have the Pokémon Power if Nightmare does the same thing, but with no drawbacks?

Because it’s a Pokemon Power, and a coin flip isn’t a much of a drawback.

the only thing that comes up to my head would be using it with a pokemon with dream eater, in that case hitting for 50 with 2 energy is fairly good. However, isn’t that big of a deal for how troublesome is it to set it up.

In Rocket-on you can play Drowzee Rocket with Snorlax (Legendary Collection) and Dark Vileplume, using the Poképower of Dark Gloom if you want it.

Yes, this was indeed part of the old “Turbo Snorlax” deck. I played that deck for years… and quickly cut Drowzee as a waste. Remember, the deck runs Dark Vileplume BUT Dark Vileplume locks down your own Items. Which means you run some Pokémon Breeder (later, Rare Candy) to help Evolve Oddish directly into Dark Vileplume BUT you still want quite a few Dark Gloom… and Dark Gloom has a Pokémon Power that lets you flip a coin to Confuse an Active (yours on “tails”, your opponent’s on “heads”). I played before Rare Candy received its errata, so I don’t know if the deck ever switched to Broken Time-Space or not to retain a T1 Dark Vileplume.
