It races through narrow caves, using its sharp claws to catch prey. The skin on its face is harder than a rock.

Revenge attackers always seem to pop up as decent splashable counters to popular attackers for some reason, and I have to wonder if that’s intentional. First we had Bouffalaunt, who was a decent counter to RDL, although it certainly isn’t bad two formats later where RDL has been long rotated. Then Terrakion came around and, on its own, could handle Zekrom and Magnazone Prime pretty well, but really hit its stride when Darkrai EX came out. Now we have a counter for Rayquaza EX and Black Kyurem EX, again with the same Revenge attack. You have to wonder if the card designers had these things in mind when making them.

Hm…at a glance, this guy feels like it isn’t able to perform on par with Terrakion, but it’s actually possible for an energy-less Druddigon to pull off a Revenge without warning if you have a Double Colorless in your hand. That’s definitely a huge advantage, in terms of both playability and unpredictability. His lower retreat cost is definitely a plus, as well.

He might seem to be a less effective check to Dragons as Terrakion is to its prey, but Revenge’s energy cost is incredibly convenient. Any energy-less Druddigon sitting on the bench is capable of attacking with Revenge the moment it gets sent into play, courtesy of double colorless energy…that gives this thing an advantage both in terms of playability and in terms of unpredictability. The reasonable retreat cost can’t hurt, either.

It’s going to become less and less relevant though unfortunately. Don’t understand why they thought it was a good idea to make dragons weak to fairy. Dragons being weak to dragon was a really fun part of the game. They could’ve just made fairy resistant to dragon
