Too bad it’s weak to lightning =/

Depending on where the metagame goes after this set, that could be the least of its worries. Stage twos are still too slow to keep up with the all basic decks these days.

If any Stage 2 will make it, I could see it being Empoleon. As far as Stage 2s go, it doesn’t get much faster than a one-energy attack and internal draw.

In another format, one with less lightning, or more forgiving to evolutions, I can forsee this card doing really well.

Currently testing Empoleon/Terrakion/Aerodactyl, it’s fun, if nothing else, have yet to win against zeels though. I hope lightning dies down so this guy sees play; with that weakness he’s about as playable as Jumpluff =/

Jumpluff was tier 1, Empoleon is tier 2-3, Not exactly the best example.

I was referring to the playability, or lack thereof, of Jumpluff in the current format…

Currently working on a build based loosely off of Yuka-san’s 2010 Worlds Jumpluff. :)

Since the decklists are so similar, my Empoleon deck plays a LOT like Yuka-san’s. I’m excited to test it out against my friends! o/

I’ve finally found a significant way for Empoleon/Aerodactyl to beat Zekeels. You just take out Eels and cut support, and when you’re done you ko the active and steamroll. It doesn’t always work, but it can sometimes, and it’s the best way.

That’s right. You should play Pichu to troll them as you fill your bench. Then ALL PRAISE THE MIGHTY CATCHER as it pulls up Eels to slaughter. :o

I currently run an Empoleon/Terrakion deck and regardless of the weakness, it fared up reasonably well against ZekEels. I was two prize cards away from victory when I realised that I ‘Diving Draw’ed through nearly all my deck and had 2 turns to take two prizes. It was a really good game though, I love playing this deck, especially when you set up all of your Empoleons :)
