It is said that when it roars, a volcano erupts somewhere around the globe.

Sam
I play this with Kiawae in GLC and love it.

I like this guy and lot in GLC, but I feel like eventually the power creep will push him out.

What’s GLC?
Gaardus
Gym Leader Challenge, an unofficial format for playing the Pokemon TCG. You may use only one type of Pokemon in your deck (like a gym leader would), you can’t play any cards with rule boxes (Pokemon ex, Pokemon V, Radiant Pokemon, etc.), and you may only play one copy of each card in your deck (expect basic energy).
Charmaster
I mean, I think it’s success is largely tethered to how much people use https://pkmncards.com/card/charizard-pokemon-go-pgo-010/ . Charizard PGO lets you attach two or three Energy a turn thanks to https://pkmncards.com/card/blacksmith-flashfire-flf-88/ or https://pkmncards.com/card/welder-unbroken-bonds-unb-189/ and do 140-180 damage (You could go even higher with https://pkmncards.com/card/magma-basin-brilliant-stars-brs-144/ or https://pkmncards.com/card/muscle-band-xy-xy-121/ to knock out especially bulky Pokémon or Pokémon protected by https://pkmncards.com/card/luxurious-cape-paradox-rift-par-166/ ). This list serves as an example of a Charizard-based GLC Fire deck. https://web.archive.org/web/20240313120631/https://gymleaderchallenge.com/fire
The problem with Charizard is that it’s easy to gust up and knock out, so I think a lot of Fire gym leaders are switching to builds featuring Pokémon that only need two or three Energy to attack, swapping https://pkmncards.com/card/heatmor-fusion-strike-fst-041/ for https://pkmncards.com/card/ninetales-obsidian-flames-obf-029/ and Entei for https://pkmncards.com/card/gouging-fire-surging-sparks-ssp-038/ . Perhaps Charizard decks are still being played frequently in the gym leader challenge community, but on the official website, the only one I see is the https://pkmncards.com/card/centiskorch-sword-shield-ssh-039/ / https://pkmncards.com/card/moltres-team-up-teu-19/ mill deck.
