Apparently, the artist didn’t get the memo that this card would not have stomp.

This version of “Psychic Exchange” is worded slightly differently from its versions on Erika’s Exeggutor and BW98 Mew.

You might not believe it based on Exeggutor’s track record of unplayable coin flip attacks, but this card is actually the attacker of a top-tier deck. In the 2005 Worlds format and EX Block Format (Ruby and Sapphire through Power Keepers), Exeggutor from FireRed & LeafGreen gets paired with Electrode ex, which can load it up with Double Rainbow Energy, Scramble Energy and other Energy cards to power up supercharged Big Eggsplosions.

Let’s look at the math for Big Eggsplosion. A basic Energy will increase your average damage output by 20, a Double Rainbow Energy will increase your average damage output by 30, and a Scramble Energy will increase your average damage output by 60 when your opponent has taken more prize cards than you (Extra Energy Bomb, anyone?). Between manual attachments and Extra Energy Bomb’s, you can easily set up Big Eggsplosions with eight coin flips or more.

While “Scrambled Eggs” is simple to play in theory, in practice I find I don’t know how much Energy to over attach to safeguard myself against subaverage coin flip rates. I guess you just need to have the gambler’s instincts/card counting abilities of a professional poker player to take full advantage of this deck. Cough Cough Jason Klaczynski Cough Cough

https://retro-library.com/ruby-sapphire-power-keepers/ You can find more EX Block Format Electrode ex variants here, or read more about Electrode ex and its best partners in the comments section of that card.

(This is one of Pooka’s favorite decks, by the way, even though he’d only seen it operate at meme deck levels. He had a friend who loved to use it when they were practicing together.)
