The Pokémon this card is attached to gets +20 HP and that Pokémon’s attacks do 20 more damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance). When the Pokémon this card is attached to is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 1 more Prize card.
· Pokémon Tool rule: Attach Expert Belt to 1 of your Pokémon that doesn’t already have a Pokémon Tool attached to it. If that Pokémon is Knocked Out, discard this card.

I bet that if this were legal, Gothitelle would see a legitimate decrease in play. I know that Gothitelle locks trainers, which is why people will attach it to Zekrom and Reshiram early game.

I wanted to see this return, but at least we’re getting 1/3 of its effect with Large Cloak.

The additional prize counter seems like a deadly drawback, and, indeed, if you merely printed an EX pokemon with +20/+20 to its HP and attacking stats, it wouldn’t catch. The difference here ,however, is that this can be used with the element of surprise, disrupting the foe’s plan by allowing you to turn a 2HKO into a 1HKO, and it can be attached to ANY pokemon, meaning that the already powerful ones will be seeing a lot of faster kills. Bonus points if you have a way to remove this, and there are a multitude of ways.

I love EB. I’d love a reprint, but I’d modify the “1 extra prize” part to be conditional. Something like, “If the Pokemon this card is attached to has 150 or more max HP, then your opponent takes an additional prize card when it is knocked out”
+20/+20 on a normal, non-evolving basic doesn’t quite make it EX levels. But if it didn’t go over 140 HP with the belt, then it’s simply a better tool for non-evolving basics (think like for Miltank, the genies, or the BLW legendaries). You could still choose this over Muscle Band for EXs and stage 2’s, but run the risk of the extra prize on KO.

Eh, I like the idea of the unconditional extra prize drawback. This card is more for springing a surprise on your opponent like that…and also, I like the idea of extra power at a price.

I’m all for “extra power at a price”, but specifically with a reprint, the drawback either needs to be conditional, or the buffs would need a boost. Especially when you compare it to the tools we have now:
Muscle Band (https://pkmncards.com/card/muscle-band-xy-121/ ) is +20 damage, no drawback.
Giant Cape (https://pkmncards.com/card/giant-cape-dragons-exalted-drx-114/ ) is +20 HP, no drawback.
Fighting Fury Belt (https://pkmncards.com/card/fighting-fury-belt-breakpoint-bkp-99/ ) is +40HP/+10 damage, restricted to basics.
First off, I hate that FFB was restricted TO basics, instead I think it should’ve been restricted to evolved pokemon only (Stage 1/2 and Megas).
FFB is the best of the bunch, imo. You get +40/-10 over Muscle Band, +20/+10 over Giant Cape, and +20/-10 w/ a much better drawback compared to Expert Belt.
The drawback of Expert Belt giving your opponent an extra prize meant that pokemon that were easier to KO were more negatively affected by the drawback compared to pokemon that were harder to KO. If you can OHKO a 180HP EX, then there’s at least a decent chance you could OHKO the same EX with 200HP instead. But if you put EB on a 100HP Stage 1 to bring it to 120HP, it wasn’t all that much harder to KO, and the free prize was too much of a penalty.
That’s why I was saying to make an EB where the drawback was conditional, and my suggestion was meant to make it so that the drawback didn’t kick in until it made the target really powerful and harder to KO (which basing off of max HP seems to do the trick).

Not really it was really good in SP as a gyarados tech to make a 2 for 2 trade with the gyaradoses with your luxrays. Also really good in DialgaChomp to keep tanking since you’d never die.
