The wording of this card changed a bit from previous versions–it allows getting back “up to” 4 Basic Energy cards. You can choose fewer than 4! This follows the changes to Superior Energy Retrieval and Energy Retrieval (and Super Rod, Energy Recyler, Pal Pad, etc.).

Of course, the difference here is the TCG Classic wordings aren’t supposed to affect tournament play in any way, so this wording change actually is *not* official errata, and only impacts games of TCG Classic.

What about GLC? I know not for tournament play cards aren’t legal in GLC but since this is technically a reprint I am unsure.

The “official ruling” on this is that these aren’t legal for official tournaments, but seeing as 99% of GLC events aren’t TPCi-run, the answer is “ask the tournament organizer.” Which is kind of unhelpful, but most organizers will allow it, just as most organizers allow foreign language cards.

You’d have to play it with the BKT text (non-“up to”) if they did allow it.
