Garchomp is very heavily inspired by Gigan from the 1972 kaiju film, Godzilla vs Gigan.
Cynthia is, at least insofar as her design, very heavily inspired by the character Maetel from Galaxy Express 999, a manga that debuted in 1977 and was adapted into an anime that started airing in 1978.

This card is one of the few to have included Dragon Claw since the release of Dragonium Z in Cosmic Eclipse. Due to their similar discard requirements, it seems that Destructive Drake GX and Sonic Strike offer little strategic synergy.
