   Other Gengar cards with damage-counter (DC)-placing attacks:
   SF Gengar places up to 6 DCs
   DP Gengar places 4, then swaps to the bench
   LM Gengar places up to 4 DCs
   Gengar Prime places 4, no questions asked
   LOR Gengar can place up to 10 DCs, but only on the Active Pokemon.

   Despite having the highest (non Lv.X) level of any Gengar with a Lv. printed on it, it has the lowest HP of any of them, tied with two Gengar cards that are set at around half its level – N4 Dark Gengar (Lv.32) and TCG2 Dark Gengar (Lv.33). Note that this depressed HP doesn’t even make sense in the context of Gen 4 – DP and DPt feature Gengar in the 40s, and all feature HP of either 100 or 110.

   This is general flavor problem for Pokémon SP, which attempt to be faithful to the video games (this card’s level is set to 65 to presumably match the level of Fantina’s Gengar for her Platinum rematch battle) and suit the video games at the same time – setting a bunch of Basic Pokémon to 100+ HP would necessitate making them all a bunch of Pokémon with high retreat and/or weak attacks and/or other trade-offs; considering how boring Pokémon VS can be as a set of cards¹, some kind of concession was necessary.

   ¹ There’s been a recent spat of poor reading comprehension in the comments, so please let me clarify that when I say “how boring Pokémon VS can be”, it is not the same as had I said “how boring Pokémon VS is”. Outside of the novelty of a large catalog of TMs, is not a very fun set to *play*, but it is a fun set to collect/admire, as it has unique art and even unique artists(!). Additionally, as the set can be read as a predecessor to some Gen 3 Owner’s Pokémon, as well as the Pokémon SP of the DPt block, it is also notable in that sense. Thanks.
