with the release of this card, the maximum possible retreat cost a Pokemon can have increased from 25 to 26!
the setup is simple:
Player A has a Steelix ex UF 109 in the active spot (5 base retreat) with a Gravity Gemstone attached (+1) along with 4 benched Ariados MT 20 (+4) and 4 benched Team Aqua’s Muk (+4) under the effect of Sky Field
Player B has 4 benched Spidops ex (+4) and 4 benched Jellicent BCR 45 (+4) and used Relicanth SV SH8’s Deep Sea Pressure on Steelix ex last turn, (+2) which was knocked out going into Player A’s turn with poison. Player A uses Erika’s Invitation to gust up a Wobbuffet HGSS04 (+2)
unfortunately, unless I missed something, it doesnt look like there’s any way to put a Gravity Gemstone on the Wobbuffet during Player A’s turn, and we cant attach it on Player B’s next turn without losing the retreat increasing effect from Relicanth, so the total is 26 instead of 27 for now

You have to pay 30 energy for me to retreat, so unfortunately, the record stands for now

Not unless your house is beset by Arachnids and jellyfish. I’ve met you in person, and you’re definitely Heavy Ball searchable, but not Poké Maniac searchable (It’s Charmaster, by the way. I don’t know why I still keep posting here under anonymous. Old habit, I guess. Now people can have fun looking for “anonymous” messages and seeing which ones match my tone (Which most of them have for at least a year)).
I think a retreat cost of 30 is what Steelix would have on Jupiter (Oh wait, it would be flattened instantly. Rip Steelix).

As for me, I’d be feather ball searchable if retreat cost didn’t suddenly become based on speed instead of weight when you get to 0. My granny keeps trying to fatten me up, but to no avail. Probably not far from the weight of a Float Stone… just not as fast as one (Yes, the floating rock goes brrrrrrrrrrr).

I just realized Poké Maniac doesn’t narrow it down, but the point is you only have a retreat cost of 3 (I’m digging myself into a hole, aren’t I?).
Whimsicast, three posts into reading a strangely analytical discussion of people’s weights written in deep Pokémon trade game card references: “What did I just witness?”

also how foolish of me i forgot that toolbox sigilyph exists lol
the actual maximum retreat cost is in fact 27, if both players actives are Sigilyph PLB 41 with 4 gravity gemstones attached & player B has an Absol TEU 88 benched with the effect of captivating poke puff during player A’s turn
Divinity
My current formula caps at 27.
Stadium in play is Sky Field
Player A has M Tyranitar EX, base Retreat of 4, and two Gravity Gemstones attached (4+2=6)
Player A has 4 MT Ariados (6+4=10) and 4 Team Aqua’s Muk (10+4=14)
Player B has an active Relicanth about to use the attack Deep Sea Pressure which adds 2 (14+2=16)
Player B has 4 Team Aqua’s Muk (16+4=20) and 3 MT Ariados (20+3=23)
After Player B uses Relicanth’s attack, on Player A’s turn, they Boss’s Orders up Player B’s Honchkrow V, which has 4 Gravity Gemstones on it (23+4=27).
This caps at 27.
(Honchkrow V is interchangable with Sigilyph and Revavroom ex)
(M Tyranitar EX and two Gemstones is interchangable with Steelix ex or any other 5-retreat pokemon with 1 Gravity Gemstone. I chose Tyranitar exclusively for style points and nothing else.)
If anyone else can think of anything more to add, I think this is the maximum.
