It still managed to not be strictly better, because you can snag Pokémon-ex with “Pokémon March” but not “Great Ball”.

Not that this mattered. Pokémon March and Great Ball weren’t legal together in Modified. And in Unlimited (For all five of those poor souls that still played Unlimited in 2006) they are too slow compared to the likes of Computer Search, Professor Oak, Bill and Town Volunteers.
