Poké-BODY ⇢ Hard Rock
As long as Groudon ex has 1 Energy or less attached to it, damage done to any of your Groudon ex in play by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). You can’t use more than 1 Hard Rock Poké-Body each turn.
{F}{F}{C} → Power Blast : 100
Discard 2 Energy attached to Groudon ex.
· Pokémon-ex rule: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

how is this card not rated higher? it seems like a really strong card in the format. 100 damage for 3 energy and a poke-body that buffs it up in the early game (and later if you have another groudon benched). seems pretty good
Mantidactyle
Super slow, and 2HKO’d by basically every attacker in the format.

Also, Rare Candy allowed a Basic to immediately Evolve into either its Stage 1 or Stage 2 form at this time, give or take the current First Turn Rules: one iteration didn’t allow the starting player access to “normal Trainers”, what we now call Item cards. I don’t remember if that was during this card’s time or not. What I do remember, however, is Double Rainbow Energy and – later – Scramble Energy NOT working for Basic Pokémon (at all) nor for Pokémon-ex.
So… non-Pokémon-ex Evolutions traded needing two extra cards for having comparable stats/effects without giving up an extra Prize when KO’d, and had access to super easy Energy acceleration. Evolved Pokémon-ex traded needing two extra cards for having superior stats/effects. Both would be just as fast as Groudon-ex, barring deck specifics.

huh. Well, were any of the other groudon ex cards any good? I’m trying to get back into the ex series, since I find it a lot more fun than the current format.

* Power Blast originated as an attack on the JP-only Butler’s Salamence card.
* This is one of only two cards by Takabon. They’re very likely to be a Creatures staff member, as a few years later a “Takabon” was credited as an Art Director on the (Creatures-developed) Pokédex 3D.
