It has an extremely aggressive nature. The Hyper Beam it shoots from its mouth totally incinerates all targets.

Base Set Gyarados’ Dragon Rage was an attack that did flat damage, and this version of Dragon Rage involves coin flips with a chance of the attack doing nothing. My first guess was this was a name change discrepancy (i.e. JP attacks had different names), or another BW-era ‘reboot’ of an attack’s function. In’s actually neither.
Unusual-ish for the TCG, there have been two different kinds of the Dragon Rage attack coexisting for a while, and both go by the same name in both the EN and JP (and presumably all other) editions of the TCG.
First type of Dragon Rage (flat damage):
· debuted on Base Set Gyarados
· appeared again on RG Gyarados 𝒆𝒙, TRR Dark Dragonair, DS Dragonair δ (#41), HF Gyarados GX [as of October 2022]
Second type of Dragon Rage (flips involved);
· debuted on “University Magikarp”¹
· appeared again on Web Magikarp, MT Magikarp, POP9 Garchomp, AR Bagon (#SH10), Axew (BWP10 and BWP16), this Gyarados, and TEU Dratini [as of October 2022]

And neither really represents the video game version of guaranteed 40 damage, which would probably do non-weakness/resistance damage like Sonicboom.
