You are widely missed, my friend.

You’re also the reason I’m going to try to get my league to have an Unlimited tournament.

This is what really showed me how much the game has been power crept – a Stage 1 doing 110 damage for no energy.

Try it out with Archie’s Ace in the Hole · Primal Clash (PRC) #124 and Battle Compressor Team Flare Gear · Phantom Forces (PHF) #92. That’s 120 damage for free on a 130HP body, or 140 for free on an expert belted, 150HP body. Then just Max Potion · Emerging Powers (EPO) #94 any non-OHKO damage.

What’s the point? Most Unlimited decks will win on the first turn. You should read this article to get an idea on what the format is like:

I’m quite aware of the *current* Unlimited format. I swept with a SableDonk at an Unlimited tournament at PAX a few years back just before the “can’t attack on your first turn” rule took effect. If The Pokemon Company International seriously wanted to make Unlimited a useable format, they’ll introduce a banned and restricted list the way that WotC has for Magic’s Vintage, Legacy, and Modern formats. And I fully expect BTS to be one of the first banned cards, or at least restricted to 1, which tears apart almost all of the main Unlimited decks (with the exception of some hand lock decks). And if you play for fun with friends in Unlimited, where you just agree to not misuse BTS like the other combo decks do, then you can come up with some fun tricks like the Gyarados+Archies one I mentioned.

Although not official, there is U150 format which balances Unlimited quite well. No having to agree not to misuse cards either. The banlist has got pretty long even with all the restrictions, there’s so many dirty combos hidden in Pokemon!

You’ve got an interesting format there HEZ. I’ll try to remember it the next time I get together with my crabby, old, standard-hating friends. Heh.

They’ll never ban any cards, they have stated that they need at least one format where each card is legal.

Gyrados is so good, he can wreak havoc without Wreaking Havoc.

Am I the only player to miss MD-on?
