With its disheveled white fur, it looks like an embodiment of death. Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark’s own body.

It shows up kinda funky on the site, but the first attack costs no Energy. The KO happens at the end of *your opponent’s next turn*, as stated (i.e. not at the end of turn you attack… that’s still *your turn*).

This does mean if the opponent’s Active simply goes to the bench no KO would happen, since effects of attacks would be removed.

Some typos in the Pokedex entry here: “ofndeath” and “nemesesnwith”

looked this up as i just started playing TCG Live, n kept seeing the prompt, Damn now i know Why the card’s banned from play. Doom Curse is just a case of “Mother May i?” broken.

Retreating to the bench or having a Big Parasol attached prevents the knockout, so it’s not overpowered by design. The reason it’s banned is due to a glitch – if you successfully knock a Pokemon out with Doom Curse and then bring it back into play with Echoing Horn, it instantly faints again.

    Bulbapedia link doesn’t work

This is a known issue with a lot of cards in the Sword & Shield series and any newer series because Bulbapedia does not use leading zeros, mainly for consistency with cards from the Sun & Moon series and past.
Anyways, here is a link that does work.

We’re now testing a change to trim leading zeros of set numbers for Bulbapedia URLs; this should help with some of the broken links! We are aware that other fixes need to be made as well, but this is the easiest one so we’re starting with this.

What does “defending Pokemon” actually mean?

Is it the active Pokemon at the time of the attack or the active Pokemon at the time the effect triggers?

“Defending Pokemon” would be the opponent’s active pokemon at the time of the attack, yes. In the case of Doom Curse, it’s essentially placing an effect on the defending pokemon, and if the defending pokemon retreats, then the effect is cleared (as with all other effects).

If it had instead been phrased as “the opponent’s Active Pokemon will be knocked out”, then I believe it would be an effect placed on the opponent, and would impact whatever they happen to have in the active spot at the end of the next turn.
