You can use this attack only if your Hitmonlee used Special Combo during your last turn. This attack does 60 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

It fights while spinning like a top. The centrifugal force boosts its destructive power by 10.

I wonder why this guy isn’t in TEU with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan? Cuz he needs both of them to work.

In the Japanese releases, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan were both in SM9, which made up the English SM9 (TEU) as well. Hitmontop was in SM9b in Japan, so while all three cards were in the SM9 “block” over there, it wasn’t the case over here – so their SM9a and SM9b were in our SM10 (UNB). This has been the case pretty much throughout the SM and SWSH eras, although there have been exceptions (plus a little butchering for English SWSH sets).

While it’s not the only tower of its kind in the world, the combination of the Space Needle-esque tower with tall blocky skyscrapers and a winding overpass inclines me to believe this art was directly inspired by Downtown Seattle. Wonder if Komiya visited the US not long before this.

Paradigm Trigger introduces a new archetype of this style, featuring pikaclones instead of hitmons. Morpeko has the exact same attack as this, with an alternative big damage option in Pikachu (200 damage if used as third attack in combo).
It’s an improvement with damage options, hitting more weaknesses, and a bit more survivability via paralysis and flippy prize denial, but I still really can’t imagine such a clunky concept ever actually working. Love the creativity of it, though.

I think it’s really cool in league decks (if you’re playing against kids and want to play something purposely underpowered) and possibly in prerelease! Agreed that these mechanics don’t seem viable in a competitive setting.
