{M} → Linear Attack
Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon. This attack does 10 damage to that Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)
You may attach this as an Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon. While attached, this card is a Special Energy card and provides {C} Energy.

It’s interesting that this is the only Metal type Magnemite of the entire Generation III TCG. Magnemite is a Pokémon that has enjoyed a lot of representation in the TCG thanks to being a dual type Pokémon where both of those types have been proportionaly rare at various stages of the franchise (and are still proportionally rare, even today). So that, in a pinch, Magnemite was an easy Pokémon to grab and slap into a set in either type to help fill type quotas.
In fact, just to remind anyone not aware, that’s kind of why the entire Delta Species concept seems to have taken off in the first place – to try and balance out the fact a lot of Electric and Steel types were getting disproportionate representation in the TCG because they were benefiting from what was essentially “affirmative action, but for Magnemite”, the schema allowed them to assign other Pokemon as Lightning and/or Metal types in the TCG instead, and balance out the representation, at least somewhat.

Lightning, Metal, and Fire numbers all got pumped up by Delta Species, and Darkness got pumped up by Rocket’s and Dark Pokémon. It’s one of the reasons why we’ll probably never see a return to those gimmicks since we have a much larger roster to work with, and also what’s making me curious about how Terastalizing will work.
The Tera Pokémon we’ve seen so far have their standard typing, perhaps if they do change their types at any point, their original type will be reflected in the energy costs.
