The moment I saw this ,I enjoyed the flavor behind Dark Trance. Energy trans is only secondarily a psychic effect, but psychic does enjoy the ability to transfer energy and life between teammates. Dark trans takes this psychic effect, and applies it to dark energy.
The dark flavor comes into effect with what is ACTUALLY being done with the transferred resources: they are being destroyed, to further the destruction of the other team. Alone ,these effects might have been more suitable on a grass pokemon and a fire pokemon , respectively. Here, however, they perfectly fit the primarily dark, secondarily psychic nature of this pokemon
