In the wild world of unlimited, discarding a single card is not a HUGE shortfall..but nevertheless, this already-good card has apparently been obsoleted by Red Card · XY (XY) #124.

This is a REALLY good card… Red Card is just ridiculous 0_0 I might run both…

IS Unlimited still viable now?

Unlimited is an untamed wasteland… I absolutely love everything about it, haha. Everyone talks about Porydonk and Forretress Donk, but nobody talks about the 2 Unown donks now that LOT Unowns exist. ;)
Otaku
Wait, people talk about Forretress Donk? ;) Most folks – myself included – were done with Unlimited before Porydonk was even a thing; First Turn Lock decks were bad enough, but adding in actual First Turn Win? How about we just flip a Pokémon-themed coin to decide the winner, instead. XD
Now, for folks that enjoy that sort of thing – and even I do on occasion – go for it! Oh, and write or stream more about it, so I can learn! XD I’d love to have enough data to start adding “Unlimited Format” scores to my Card of the Day reviews again.

The only kind of stops you can pull in Unlimited is starting with Spiritomb · Arceus (AR) #32, but even that is not foolproof.
Tokiwa City Smuggle
I think Unlimited would be viable if they ban Broken Time-Space · Platinum (PL) #104 and errata’d Slowking · Neo Genesis (N1) #14 to its Japanese Mind Games text. But then it wouldn’t be Unlimited anymore! Lol
Otaku
An errata correcting the original mistake with Neo Genesis Slowking’s Ability is long overdue. However, there are a few other cards that would need an errata or ban, I think. I could be completely wrong, but just off the top of my head from Base Set:
Energy Removal
Item Finder
Professor Oak
Super Energy Removal
Scoop Up
Tokiwa City Smuggle
Lass · Base Set (BS) #75 + Cleffa · Neo Genesis (N1) #20 can delay all of the above mentioned trainers. ER/SER can be dealt with the following stadium cards: No Removal Gym · Gym Heroes (G1) #103, Ecogym · Neo Genesis (N1) #84, and Energy Stadium · Neo Destiny (N4) #99.

Annoyingly, I cannot seem to reply to Tokiwa City Smuggle’s next comment directly, so I’m replying to my own to continue the discussion. XP
I need to know how well you (Tokiwa City Smuggle) know the game. I ain’t a great player, but I’ve been at it long enough (since 1999) to have at least a rough idea of how things worked back then, and how they work now, and most of the Formats in between.
I’m well aware of the “counters” you you mentioned, and how they were inadequate back then, before sets from the last 10 years introduced counters to your counters. Likewise, how about all the combos broken enough to get cards banned in the modern Expanded Format? Even if you keep all those cards banned, you’ll need to look for similar combos that can be constructed using cards from the past.
