Once during your turn (before your attack), if this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, you may look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal a Trainer card you find there, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle the other cards back into your deck, and this Pokémon is now Asleep.

This ability is better than CEL Mew inasmuch as it doesn’t limit you to *Item* cards; you can also pick out a Supporter or a Stadium. But subsequently being put to sleep makes retreating more difficult.

Nope! Escape Board was legal at the same time, allowing you to retreat even while Asleep (or Paralyzed). And this card comfortably made this Pokémon retreat for free. It became less useful due to Escape Board rotating out, and soon enough this Pokémon rotated, giving way to Mew.

Blacephalon kept using it thanks to Scoop Up Net and Switch, though. That archetype really wanted to dig down into the deck as fast and as far as it could.

By the way, how did you make Escape Board appear as a hyperlink? I’ve tried all sorts of things, but I can never get it to work. I’m probably just missed it somehow, but I searched the sight for any sort of hint fairly thoroughly.
I just discovered the syntax page, which I didn’t think to check before (that should give you an idea of the degree of thoroughness with which I searched), but I’m not sure if that would help me either.

In the same way as Markdown.
For example, [Escape Board](https://pkmncards.com/card/escape-board-ultra-prism-upr-122/\) gives Escape Board. If you can’t see the example properly, you just put the display text in [square brackets], and the URL in (parentheses). This is one of the things that took me a while to figure out.
