Discard 2 cards from your hand. Search your discard pile for a Trainer card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. You can’t choose Junk Arm with the effect of this card.

Remember when this was only played in Gyarados and Regigigas decks?
Chuck Rancor
Wasn’t that also when 2-3 PONT was also considered “a nice idea?”
WilliamH.
I’m sorry, a noob like myself cannot image either one of these scenarios but, I do remember when Reshiram was one of the most feared decks and Fire Type ruled the tourneys. :)

Imagine getting one of these ingame. “yes, I think I’ll discard two antidotes to get back that Stealth Rock TM…”

remember when pokemon catcher and this were legal
Otaku
Still are in the PTCGO Legacy Format… but with the infamous erratum for Pokémon Catcher (adding the coin flip). I’m guessing you’re talking about the craziness when Junk Arm and “No coin flip required” Pokémon Catcher were both legal and… I don’t know if I want to remember that. XP

Don’t worry, Legacy players had plenty of other strong Items to recover. Rare Candy, ACE Specs like https://pkmncards.com/card/g-booster-plasma-blast-plb-92/, https://pkmncards.com/card/silver-mirror-plasma-blast-plb-89/ , https://pkmncards.com/card/tool-scrapper-dragons-exalted-drx-116/ , https://pkmncards.com/card/float-stone-plasma-freeze-plf-99/ , https://pkmncards.com/card/dark-patch-dark-explorers-dex-93/ , https://pkmncards.com/card/max-potion-emerging-powers-epo-94/ … it’s part of what makes Legacy fun to explore again as a retro format! Stage 2 decks are buffed from better access to Rare Candy and other powerful Items, thanks to both Junk Arm and https://pkmncards.com/card/twins-triumphant-tm-89/ . Also, the Pokémon Catcher errata makes basic decks less disruptive, and the Sword and Shield era turn 1 Supporter rules lead to a roughly even number of decks preferring to go first as opposed to going second.
I was going to leave a comment explaining why this doesn’t grab Supporters or Stadiums, but someone else lower down has already done it. As sad as it is that the new online client doesn’t support Legacy or even full Expanded, it definitely would have been weird playing a version of Legacy where you could attach Tools under Item lock and couldn’t recover Float Stone with Junk Arm.

The original JP print of this card allowed you to search your deck for an *Item* card, not just any Trainer card. The reason for the discrepancy is because Japan introduced the Trainer reclassification system in HGSS, but the international edition waited until BW for some reason – so how was this card played internationally? Were people using it to get Supporters and Stadiums back? They weren’t supposed to be.
Twylis
During Gen 4, Stadiums and Supporters were classified as separate categories from Trainers entirely, and when Gen 5 came around, this was ruled to only grab Gen 4 Trainers and Gen 5 Items. So functionally the same as Japan, just with way more confusing wording when it was legal alongside Gen 5 cards.

That’s what I would’ve figured, but I couldn’t find anything about an errata/ruling for how this card interacted with Gen 5 Supporters and Stadiums. Thank you!
