If there had only been a dark Kingdra, Kingdra could brag about being the only pokemon to be depicted as potentially being Nine types (water, lightning, psychic, colorless, fire, metal, fighting, dragon, dark) As it is now, though, I think eight types (barring only dark and grass) is “enough.”

Mikio Menjo only ever did one other card for the TCG [Energy Switch – AQ 120]. Always weird when an artist is only very, very peripherally involved in the TCG – they often turn out to be people involved in developing the video games. A little bit of digging and Mikio Menjo was credited with doing some 3D modelling work for Pokémon Channel and Colosseum. It seems very possible this Kingdra art uses the same 3D model as the one in Colosseum, meaning this card could’ve secretly been a sort of ‘sneak peak’ of the graphics of a game that I am not even sure had actually been announced yet?
