Its thin, balloon-like body is inflated by horribly toxic gases. It reeks when it is nearby.

Funny that Koffing got a full-art card before Weezing ever did. I would’ve imagined that Galarian Weezing V would be printed at some point. Apparently not!

Three years into Illustration Rares featuring a roughly equal ratio of Pokémon of every conceivable stage of evolution, we are no longer surprised by these sorts of things.

But yeah, I’ve always been a big fan of beginning and middle stage evolutions getting rare or notable cards, like Gardenia’s Turtwig or the holo rare Haunter from Fossil. https://pkmncards.com/card/turtwig-gl-rising-rivals-rr-85/ https://pkmncards.com/card/haunter-fossil-fo-6/

The characters in this cards are what Pokémon Aaah! has referenced as Anime Unovan 1¹, a set of glyphs used in the BW series of the Pokémon anime. The words underneath Koffing and Roxie, unsurprisingly, spell out KOF(F)ING AND ROXIE.

As for the words in the top right, PUNK LITE, maybe? PUNK _I_E are for sure; the first blank could be L or R (though L seems more likely; compare to the R in Roxie), but the character of the second blank doesn’t match up with anything. T ends up the *closest*, however, and gives us a term occasionally as a synonym for pop punk, particularly in reference to “skater queen” Avril Lavigne², and would fit work perfectly fine here as a descriptor for Roxie’s aesthetic and vibes overall.
