Only second time she contributed an illustration of a Gen 5 Pokemon

What I find interesting about Adachi’s last couple illustrations are the wider variety of textures and the lack of outlines. In this illustration, Adachi seems to have sculpted actual bricks out of clay to make the wall, while in the Palpitoad illustration, she got creative with how she represented the sand. The previous illustrations seemed to just use layers of some flat material, perhaps cardstock, layered on top of each other and sometimes even in front of the Pokémon, with all these flat objects featuring thick black outlines with a white stroke. I once asked someone how I could recreate that style, and she suggested drawing the layers on a computer and using a cricut to produce them. There were some flat objects in the last two illustrations, but they only comprised a small portion of the scene.
