You know, Delta Mind’s requirement that the target be a delta pokemon to get its full effect is kind of sill when you’re playing draft….every single pokemon in this set is a delta pokemon!

Hey, wait a second. Does Delta Mind proc on Pokemon that even just mention Delta species in their text? The wording is very broad, it doesn’t specify Delta having to be in the name…

I honestly don’t know (I used to but I forgot lol) but it’s worth noting that the weird text may be because δ is never technically part of the card name; this card’s name is Lickitung, for example, not Lickitung δ.

Oh cool! That’s actually a useful answer, thank you for satisfying my curiosity. I never realized δ wasn’t technically part of their name, but now that you’re pointing it out I can definitely see it.

I just check check out of curiosity, and the Japanese Text just says that it puts more damage counters if the card is a [δ Delta Species]. they just translate to just say to just “has δ on its card” for some reason.

That Delta isn’t part of the card name doesn’t matter. In recent cases, like Single Strike/Dual Strike or Ancient/Future Pokémon, the wording is concise. Roaring Moon’s Vengeance Fletchling doesn’t do “10 more damage for each card in your discard pile with Ancient on its card”, it does “10 more damage for each Ancient card in your discard pile.” Even earlier, before Delta Species, rules used streamlined phrasing such as “If the Defending Pokémon is an Evolved Pokémon” instead of “If the Defending Pokémon has an Evolution Stage on its card.” Likewise, they’d say “Search your deck for a {G} Pokémon,” not “Search your deck for a Pokémon with {G} on its card.”

Yeah, those things are traits. I remember when people were discussing if the Pokemon with ancient traits were legal or rule box.
